Merced River

The Merced River is a critical part of our environment and it’s important to our local economy.  I’ve used my experience working with laws, regulations and legislators to fight efforts to remove protections from the lower River.  As a member of the board of an environmental organization, I’ve worked with the Park Service to monitor, evaluate and improve the Merced River Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) so that it meets people’s needs and protects the River.  I have been a leader in the fight against the bills introduced into Congress aimed at dedesignating a section of the lower Merced from its protection under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.   I also developed comments opposing the initial DEIS for the Ferguson Slide.  As supervisor, I’ll continue to fight to protect and preserve the River.
